Learn to Spin
Ready for a new adventure? We provide the wheels, spindles and fiber, you bring your adventurous self and cute socks (when borrowing other's wheels, it's good etiquette to remove your shoes).
This introduction to spinning basics will be on a Kromski Minstrel, and Ashford Kiwi wheels among others AND the drop spindle technique. SO much fiber and so many things to do with it... start the process with this class... it's as close to your "all your own" without raising the animals!!!
Wet felted bowl class
Class at Rainy Day Yarns in scenic downtown Gig Harbor
Using some of Natasha Smart's techniques you'll learn to make a wool bowl on a rubber ball-- no knitting or crochet experience necessary. This is a fun way of layering wool on a 3D mold and your hands will be wet most of the class time.
Knitting Class--Fallen Cloud shawl pattern
Cables add elegance to knitted garments and accessories. The Fallen Cloud is no exception. In this class you will learn cables. This will be a two-part (2) two hour class and will be loaded with lots of fun and great information. The pattern (can be purchased on Ravelry or in store).

Beginning Knitting
New Year, new skills! Learn the basics of knitting while making a washcloth. Over the course of three sessions:
learn how to cast on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, fix a dropped stitch, learn to bind off and a few other helpful tips
Dates: Tuesdays starting January 30th, 10:30-12:30 for 3 sessions total: 1/30, 2/13 & 2/27 (6 hours of instruction)
Supplies needed: Needles & yarn (class includes Berroco Vintage & straight needles)
Tide Fest
Join me for my second year at Tide Fest!
Gig Harbor High School's annual TideFest brings in artists and high-quality artisans from all over the Northwest.
The festival raises money for the school’s activities and athletics programs, including the Speech and Debate team and the school newspaper.
Over 100 artists sell everything from glass art, sculpture, pottery, jewelry and clothing to paintings, wood products and leather bags.

Portuguese Purling
Learn to knit more efficiently with Portuguese purling. This technique uses a pin or clip to tension the yarn and some consider it to be a faster method of knitting, particularly in colorwork or Fairisle knitting.
This is a technique class intended for people who already know how to knit and purl. A beginning knitting class will be offered on 10/9.
Students bring: worsted weight scrap yarn and knitting needles size 8 or larger
Instructor will provide: knitting clip

Are you curious about how yarn is made? Have you inherited a wheel and don't know how to use it? In this class, we'll explore the types and parts of spinning wheels and learn how fibre plus twist equals yarn.
Bring your sense of adventure and willingness to be a beginner. There are three wheels available for use in class; please indicate if you are bringing your own spinning wheel in your registration.
Student requirements: socks if borrowing a wheel. If bringing your own, your spinning wheel must be in good working order and include your wheel manual if it is new to you.
Instructor will provide: three spinning wheels and wool fibre
